“We’re in Cleveland now, Harvey. You don’t have to write about
Cleveland when we’re in Cleveland.” Harvey and Elton are in Cleveland and we will be too…
presents Your chance to see the NYTimes critic’s pick of last summer
by R. Attenweiler and S. Henkle
directed by Anna Brenner with Rebecca Benhayon and Eric Slater
“Our Greatest Year,” Robert Attenweiler’s tender and knowing inquiry into just why sports fans are so messed up, takes its time listening to what its characters say (or don’t say) and why. As such, it is an oasis of psychological complexity among the bells and whistles … and Mr. Henkle’s animations exquisitely capture the dysfunctional joys of suffering en masse.“ “Anna Brenner’s empathic direction brings this unflagging pessimist and his mystified wife to vivid life.” –NY Times
“[Rebecca Benhayon and Eric Slater] both give nuanced, deeply felt performances.” “The play is filled with Attenweiler's signature poetic language, which does for Ohioans what Tennessee Williams's plays did for Southerners…” –nytheatre.com
“[Henkle’s art] has a dry, self-deprecating wit reminiscent of American Splendor…” –The Mary Sue
